A must for all True Blue supporters!! 2010-07-17 10:06:35 Essien Expected to be fit for first EPL Clash Chelsea FC's champion midfielder Michael Essien is expected to be fit for the first EPL match against West Bromwich Albion on August 14. Essien has not played since December, due to complications following knee surgery. Ballack, the Germany skipper, joined Chelsea FC in May 2006 on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. In a relatively short Chelsea FC career of 106 games, he was involved in 3 Chelsea FC FA Cup victories as well as Chelsea FC's EPL Title victory this season. Despite these successes the rising 34 year old was unable to negotiate terms for a new contract. Ballack is expected to be replaced by young players from the Chelsea FC Academy being given development opportunities. 2010-06-11 10:11:22 Drogba to miss World Cup In yet another World Cup build up controversy, Chelsea FC Premiership Title winner Didier Drogba has been ruled out of the Cup with a broken arm.  The Ivorian Drogba, had been in career best form leading into the Ivory Coast's final warm up match versus Japan.  However in the 19th minute he collided heavily with the defender Tulio in the exhibition match in Switzerland and was immediately ruled out of the World Cup. Drogba now joins fellow Chelsea FC Premiership Title winners Michael Ballack, Germany, and Michael Essien, Ghana, on the sidelines. Despite the losses of these players, Chelsea FC are still represented in the World Cup by 14 players from 7 nations. 2010-06-05 10:35:57 Ballack In Limbo German Captain, and Chelsea FC star, Michael Ballack is currently in football limbo. Ballack, 33, has been ruled out of the World Cup due to the ankle injury sustained during Chelsea's FA Cup victory over Portsmouth. Ballack, is out of contract with Chelsea shortly, and is now seeking a 2 year extension so that he may finish his playing days at Stamford Bridge.  However, with Double-winning manager Carlo Ancellotti looking to inject some younger players into his squad, it may be that the champion midfielder might not be at the Blues next year. 2010-05-31 22:39:37 Leicester Tigers crowned 'Kings of England' The 29th May 2010 will be remembered as one of the best games of club rugby experienced in years.The close of the 2009/10 Guinness Premiership season at a rammed full Twickenham, home of English rugby, was a nail biting sea-sore ride for all playing... and watching!The Tigers faced an on form Saracens for the 'Kings of England' trophy where in previous weeks Saracens had successfully conquered the fortresses of Leicester Tigers Welford Road & Northampton Saints Franklins Gardens.Defending Champions, Leicester Tigers, who comfortably beat Bath in the semi finals, had a lot to prove to their midlands army after most fans would say "a disappointing campaign in the European Heineken Cup and the LV Cup competitions this year". Saracens on the other hand was playing for the chance of their first major trophy - not to mention being ‘pumped up’ with all the hype over their South African coach, Venter, being made to watch the game from the comfort of his own home with his son after the tribunal banned him the gates of Twickenham.The game itself was exceptional and the passion was incredible - both teams were at full strength and held their discipline throughout the game; every player put their bodies on the line playing as if it was their last.  The Tigers appeared the team in control keeping the ball tight with their monstrous pack whereas Saracens running game was so dangerous especially when spread wide allowing the score line to keep in reach for the entire game.It was a match on par with international rugby and some fans joked by saying "it is England playing South Africa!"The dying minutes of the match was de-ja-vu with the semi final against Northampton Saints where a late score put them in the lead. Leicester did not make the same mistake as Saints and quickly gathered their composure and immediately regained possession after kickoff to leading to a try that erupted the stadium and lead them to lift the crown once again.The Guinness Premiership 2009/10 final score was:Leicester Tigers 33 - 27 Saracens The League standings before the play-offs were as follows:1.
