Ballack to Leave Stamford Bridge

11th June 2010

Speculation around whether Chelsea FC No 13, Michael Ballack, would be offered a new contract at the club, has ended with The Blues releasing Ballack from 30 June 2010.

Ballack, the Germany skipper, joined Chelsea FC in May 2006 on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. In a relatively short Chelsea FC career of 106 games, he was involved in 3 Chelsea FC FA Cup victories as well as Chelsea FC's EPL Title victory this season.

Despite these successes the rising 34 year old was unable to negotiate terms for a new contract. Ballack is expected to be replaced by young players from the Chelsea FC Academy being given development opportunities.
